Castillo de Encinas de Esgueva
Encinas de Esgueva, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Encinas de Esgueva is a 14th-century medieval fortress in the Valladolid village of Encinas de Esgueva, Spain, built around 1394 by Diego López de Zúñiga on the Esgueva Valley's defensive line.
This square enclosure features two corner towers, one serving as the keep with mullioned windows, crenelated walls mimicking four towers, and Aguilar family heraldic emblems, later modified in the 16th century by Antonio del Río Aguilar with a Renaissance courtyard.
King Enrique III resided there briefly; repurposed as a grain silo in the mid-20th century after restoration by the Ministry of Agriculture, its exterior was fully rebuilt while the interior was gutted, and since 1994 it's owned by the town council for summer cultural exhibitions.
