Castillo de Inesque
Spain, Spain
Castillo de Inesque, located between the villages of Angón and Pálmaces de Jadraque in the municipality of Atienza, Guadalajara province, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, is a minor medieval watchtower from the 12th-13th century Reconquista period.
Built to monitor strategic mountain passes in the Sierra de Altomira against Muslim frontier threats, the simple masonry structure featured basic rectangular walls with archer slits typical of Alcarria outposts before falling into ruin from neglect and stone reuse.
Today, only faint foundation remnants survive amid remote hiking terrain, reflecting the sparse defensive network that stabilized Christian borders in the region.
