Castillo de Iznájar is an 8th-century Muslim fortress perched on a rocky ridge above Iznájar in Córdoba province, Spain, strategically positioned to control routes between the Genil valley, Subbética, and Campiña regions.
Its triangular layout features thick 1.8-meter walls, flanking towers, a pentagonal bow tower, and a large central courtyard surrounded by a barbacana and moat, with expansions through the 10th-15th centuries including Nasrid reinforcements and a 12th-century vaulted hall.
Conquered by Christians in 1434 after fierce battles, it later served as a noble residence before becoming a declared Bien de Interés Cultural monument offering stunning lake views.
