Its circular layout divides into two zones: one with restored 19th-century walls and eight guard towers for defense, the other holding remnants of interior rooms, strategically positioned as a medieval border outpost between Castile and Aragon kingdoms.
Played a role in the Carlist Wars of 1836 and damaged by 1864 floods, the site now offers panoramic views and preserves over a millennium of military history amid scenic valleys.
