Castillo de Jarque
Jarque, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Jarque, a Gothic-style castle in Jarque de Moncayo, Zaragoza province, Aragon, Spain, dates back to at least 1147 when the site was known as a small fortress.
It passed through owners like the Fernández de Luna family until 1382, who turned it into a lordly residence, later held by the Urrea family and counts of Aranda, with 14th-century remains featuring a trapezoidal plan, masonry walls with stone reinforcements, square or semicircular corner towers, pointed merlons, and an elevated pointed arch entrance.
Now in ruins with an interior depression possibly an old cistern, it sits atop a hill overlooking the Río Aranda valley and is listed on Spain's Red List of endangered heritage due to its poor conservation state.
