Castillo de los Álvarez-Acevedo
Spain, Spain
Castillo de los Álvarez-Acevedo, also known as the Castle of Los Álvarez Acebedo, is a striking Renaissance-style palace-castle located in Otero de Curueño, within the municipality of Valdepiélago in León province, Spain.
Built in the mid-15th century, it gained its current name in the 17th century when María de Ordás, married to an Álvarez Acebedo, became its first recorded owner, though it is sometimes referred to as the Casona de los Tovar due to family heraldry on its impressive façade featuring a balcony keep and round tower.
The robust structure served as both a residence and functional estate for agriculture and livestock owners, incorporating stables, pens, a bread store, and pigeon loft inside, standing as a dignified testament to rural noble life in Castilla y León.
