Seized in 1299 by the powerful Navarrese Funes family—who alternated loyalties between Castile and Aragón during border conflicts—it features a rectangular enclosure with two towers (including a trapezoidal Noon Tower and a main Gothic-reinforced keep reaching 13 meters), battlements, posterns, and a cistern amid parade grounds.

Damaged in the War of Succession when its archives burned, the ruins deteriorated into uninhabitability by 1844 yet underwent recent rehabilitation scaffolding, preserving its frontier legacy on the edge of the village.
