Castillo de Marcilla
Marcilla, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Marcilla is a well-preserved 15th-century Gothic fortress located in the village of Marcilla, Navarre, northern Spain, originally built by nobleman Mosén Pierres de Peralta with defensive features including a drawbridge, moat, and four corner towers.
Transitioning from a military stronghold to the residential palace of the Marquises of Falces, its brick-and-stone architecture surrounds a central parade ground with distributed living quarters and a chapel retaining 16th-century paintings.
Acquired by the Navarre government in 1976 and restored between 2008-2012, it now functions as the town hall and cultural venue amid the Ribera Navarra plains.
