Castillo de Medellín is a 13th-century fortress of Almohad Muslim origin located atop a hill overlooking the town of Medellín in Badajoz province, Extremadura, Spain, reconquered by Christians in 1234 and later modified as the seat of the Condes de Medellín.

Birthplace of Hernán Cortés, conqueror of Mexico, the restored structure features robust walls, defensive towers, and panoramic ramparts offering stunning views over the Guadiana valley and adjacent Roman theater from the 1st century BCE. 

Recognized as a historic monument, its layered Islamic, medieval, and Renaissance architecture symbolizes Extremadura's pivotal role in Spain's Age of Exploration.
