Castillo de Ojos Negros
Ojos Negros, Teruel, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Ojos Negros is a medieval castle situated in the high part of Ojos Negros, a mining town in Teruel province, Aragon, Spain, near the Guadalajara border.
Built in 1303 on ancient Iberian remains and funded by the local community, it was burned by Spanish forces and quickly rebuilt, later serving as a refuge for locals in 1363 with an oval layout, surrounding Iberian walls, and a chapel dedicated to San Juan.
Featuring three towers—one in ruins, another for exhibitions with a stone base and mud body, and a better-preserved masonry-mud tower used for housing connected by walls—it stands as a historic landmark amid the area's rugged terrain.
