Strategically positioned above the Tajuña River valley with a surrounding moat, drawbridge, square keep tower flanked by cylindrical defense towers, horseshoe arches, brick almenas, and interior features like dungeons and wooden-beam ceilings, it served noble residence and frontier protection through Mendoza family ownership.

Damaged in the War of Spanish Succession yet repeatedly restored, the privately owned structure endures in good condition as a historical landmark offering valley vistas, though interior access remains restricted.
