Castillo de Peñaflor
Huesa del Común, Spain, Spain
The Castillo de Peñaflor is a medieval ruin perched on a rocky spur overlooking the village of Huesa del Común in Teruel province, Aragon, Spain.
Captured by El Cid in 1082 but soon retaken by Muslims, it changed hands again in 1120 under Alfonso I, was briefly held by the Templars, and later controlled by the lords of Belchite and the Crown until 1702, with General Cabrera occupying it during the 1838 Carlist Wars.
Its remains feature two square towers about 30 meters apart—the taller western one possibly the keep—and scattered walls of masonry, plus a lower albarrana tower, all highlighting its strategic past in the Reconquista.
