Donated to the Order of Santiago by Fernando II of León in 1181, it served as a strategic frontier enclave guarding routes to Ledesma and nearby fortresses like Asmesnal, featuring remnants of a tower, muralla stretches, and a possible cistern amid its natural defenses.
Now a scenic viewpoint highlighting Zamora's medieval military past, the site evokes the Order's local dominance until 1873 amid the depopulated Arribes del Duero landscape.
