Castillo de Peracense stands dramatically atop a rugged sandstone escarpment in the Sierra Menera range near Peracense village in Teruel province, Aragon, Spain, blending seamlessly with its striking red rock landscape.

Occupied since the late Bronze Age and fortified during Moorish rule in the 10th-11th centuries, it gained strategic border importance between Castile and Aragon, with major expansions in the 13th-14th centuries creating three concentric enclosures, towers, walls, courtyards, and cisterns spanning 4,000 square meters.

Built from distinctive rodeno stone that matches the terrain, this well-preserved fortress lost its military role after the Catholic Monarchs' union but now draws visitors for its picturesque views, hiking access, and historical allure.
