Castillo de Píñar is a Nasrid-era fortress crowning a 932-meter hill above Píñar village in Granada province, Spain, constructed around the mid-14th century as a crucial border stronghold between Christian Castile and the Muslim Kingdom of Granada. Covering nearly 3,000 square meters in a slightly oval enclosure, its mampostería walls of varied construction enclose rectangular towers—two semicircular—along with a northwest aljibe cistern, eastern housing remains, and possible earlier Almohad or Roman foundations revealed by ceramics and tapial traces. Conquered by the Catholic Monarchs, it fell into ruin until 1990s excavations uncovered streets and homes, followed by 2006 municipal consolidations; declared a National Monument, it now overlooks Iberian settlement sites and nearby caves.
