Castillo de Quintana del Marco (sólo queda torre)
Quintana del Marco, Spain, Spain
The Castillo de Quintana del Marco is a 15th-century medieval fortress in Quintana del Marco village, León province, Spain, built by Diego Fernández de Quiñones, Count of Luna, as part of the family's holdings linked to the nearby Villanueva de Jamúz estate.
Only the square tower del homenaje remains well-preserved today, standing about 12 meters tall with a pointed-arch window, twin-arched ventanals, machicolations, battlements, and an elevated original entrance at mid-height, while the rest of the structure lies in ruins surrounded by modern housing.
Declared a Bien de Interés Cultural, this privately owned remnant reflects its military purpose through stone masonry and defensive features, with historical roots possibly tracing to Roman sites across the nearby river.
