Castillo de Salmerón
Salmerón, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Salmerón, situated on a hill now occupied by the municipal cemetery in Salmerón, Guadalajara province, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, was a 14th-century castle-palace built by the nobleman Don Juan Manuel, lord of the village.
He used it as a retreat for rest and falconry, and notably completed his famous literary work El conde Lucanor there, similar to his nearby castle in Cifuentes. Destroyed by the 18th century through neglect and reuse of its stones for local buildings including the cemetery walls, today only the site remains with no visible structures.
