Castillo De Sot De Chera
Sot de Chera, Spain, Spain
Castillo De Sot De Chera is an 11th-century Islamic defensive enclosure of masonry situated on a promontory above the Sot River in the town of Sot de Chera, Valencia province, Spain.
The structure centers on a main square tower divided into four levels ground-level cistern for water storage, defensive or residential upper floors, and a battlemented roof with walls tapering from nearly two meters thick at the base to one codo at the top, surrounded by a partial curtain wall on three sides.
Classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural since 2001, recent restorations have consolidated the tower and ruins for cultural visits amid the surrounding Arab-style neighborhood and natural valley views.
