Castillo de Tobarra
Spain, Spain
Castillo de Tobarra is a 12th-century Almohad fortress atop a hill in Tobarra, Albacete province, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, built to control key routes and irrigation areas along the historic path from Andalucía to Valencia.
Featuring a rectangular keep tower, trapezoidal and rectangular towers made of rammed earth (tapial) with concrete and masonry walls up to 1.2 meters thick, plus encircling murallas, it reflects defensive architecture from the era after the 1195 Battle of Alarcos.
After the Christian conquest of Murcia in 1243, the castle fell into disuse and ruins, now ajardinada with panoramic views of the town and countryside.
