Castillo de Trigueros del Valle
Trigueros del Valle, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Trigueros del Valle is a well-preserved 15th-century medieval fortress in Trigueros del Valle, Valladolid province, Castilla y León, Spain, originally built by Fernán Alfonso de Robles as the seat of his mayorazgo under Juan II of Castile.
Expanded around 1453 by his son Gutierre de Robles and wife María de Guevara who placed their escutcheons above the main gate - it features a rectangular layout with corner towers, cylindrical defensive outworks, a moat, and surviving elements like the homage tower walls and stables.
Stormed by villagers during the 1521 Comuneros Revolt against Fernán Robles' tyranny, it now operates as the "Castillo Encantado" museum with themed areas like dungeons and a ghost tower, offering immersive historical tours amid its restored structure.
