Castillo de Utrera
Utrera, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Utrera is a 14th-century medieval fortress in the town of Utrera, Seville province, Andalusia, Spain, built by the Seville council over the remains of an ancient Moorish minaret or tower.
First documented by Alfonso X in 1264, it was destroyed by Muhammed V of Granada in 1368 and rebuilt soon after, featuring a rectangular layout with four square towers, rammed-earth curtain walls, and a prominent Torre del Homenaje with two vaulted floors, wide windows, and arrow slits.
Abandoned by the late 15th century, this Asset of Cultural Interest was recently restored, now offering visitors panoramic views near the Santiago el Mayor church amid Utrera's historic core.
