Castillo de Villa Ceide
Belver de los Montes, Spain, Spain
Castillo de Villa Ceide, also known as the Castillo de Belver de los Montes, is a medieval fortress in Belver de los Montes, Zamora province, Castilla y León, Spain, originally cited as Castrum Villaceth in 940 AD.
Promoted by Alfonso IX in the early 13th century amid León-Castile border disputes, it featured a rectangular layout roughly 56 by 30 meters with a double oval-walled enclosure on a hilltop, later losing frontier importance after 1230 unification but hosting key figures like Fernando IV and Juan de Castilla el de Tarifa.
By the 15th century under the Almirantes de Castilla and Marquesado de Alcañices, its ruins today reveal partial walls amid the despoblado site overlooking modern remnants of its urban muralla.
