Castillo de Villalonso
Spain, Spain
Castillo de Villalonso is a well-preserved 15th-century castle-palace in Villalonso, Zamora province, Castilla y León, Spain, built on 13th-century Order of Alcántara foundations following Valladolid school architecture.
Commissioned by Juan de Ulloa around 1470, it features a square layout with ashlar walls, corner towers, central turrets on cylindrical bases, and a prominent northern keep tower over the entrance, plus a wide moat deepened in the 16th century.
It played roles in the Castilian Civil War supporting Portugal, the War of the Communities, and later as the County of Villalonso seat, now hosting events amid its scenic plains.
