Castillo del Príncipe
Spain, Spain
Castillo del Príncipe is an 18th-century coastal fortress located in A Ameixenda, Cee municipality, A Coruña province, Galicia, northwestern Spain, built in 1740 by military engineer Carlos Voysin to defend the Corcubión estuary against British threats following the capture of the Spanish ship La Princesa.
Named after the future King Carlos IV, son of Carlos III, the horseshoe-shaped stone structure housed 88 soldiers opposite the Castillo do Cardeal, forming a strategic pair until decommissioned in the 19th century. Recently restored as a luxury private residence overlooking the Atlantic, it blends military heritage with modern coastal living amid the Costa da Morte's dramatic cliffs.
