Castillo ducal de Arcos de la Frontera
Arcos de la Frontera, Spain, Spain
Castillo Ducal de Arcos de la Frontera is a medieval fortress crowning the cliffside old town of Arcos de la Frontera in Cádiz province, Andalusia, southern Spain.
Originally an 11th-century Muslim alcázar with a quadrangular layout and four corner towers, it was rebuilt by Christians in the 14th and 15th centuries after the 1250 conquest, incorporating features like the Torre del Secreto, flanking towers, a grand water well, and a horseshoe arch from its Moorish origins.
Home to the Dukes of Arcos since the early 14th century, the privately owned castle displays their heraldic shield above the entrance and offers stunning valley views, though interior access remains restricted.
