Castillo - Palacio de los Zuñiga
Curiel de Duero, Spain, Spain
Castillo-Palacio de los Zuñiga in Curiel de Duero, Valladolid province, Castilla y León, Spain, was completed around 1410 by Diego López de Zúñiga, founder of the powerful Zúñiga lineage, as a rectangular fortress-palace blending defense and noble residence.
Known as the "Palacio de Justicia Mayor," it featured corner towers, a porticoed central courtyard with octagonal columns, ornate plasterwork, and painted ceilings, serving administrative functions until 1812 reforms ended feudal privileges.
Now mostly ruined after early 20th-century looting of its decorations and subsequent abandonment, surviving facade elements and towers evoke the family's regional dominance alongside the nearby hilltop castle.
