Castle Ellen House is a historic country house near Athenry in County Galway, Ireland. Built in 1810 by the Lambert family, it was created when the family outgrew their earlier castle and became an important local estate surrounded by woodland and farmland. The house is particularly associated with the Lambert family and with Edward Carson, a prominent political figure whose mother was Isabella Lambert and who spent part of his youth at Castle Ellen. After a period of decline and vacancy in the mid-20th century, the property was purchased by Michael Keaney in 1974. He undertook extensive restoration work to preserve the building and maintain its late 19th-century character. Today, Castle Ellen House is known for its architectural heritage, peaceful woodland setting, and small historical displays. It has also hosted cultural events, social gatherings, artists, and history-focused activities, making it a notable heritage attraction in County Galway.
