Verified Castle Jaroměřice Nad Rokytnou

Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)

Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou Castle is one of the Czech Republic’s most impressive Baroque châteaux and is often called the “Moravian Versailles.”

Built on the site of an earlier medieval fortress and Renaissance manor, it was transformed into a grand Baroque residence during the early 18th century under the Questenberg family. The castle became a major cultural center, especially through the patronage of Count Jan Adam of Questenberg, who promoted music, theater, and the arts.

It is closely associated with composer František Václav Míča and the first Czech opera, which was premiered here in 1730. The vast complex includes richly decorated interiors, a monumental Church of St. Margaret, elegant French-style gardens, and a landscaped park through which the Rokytná River flows. Its architecture and grounds make it one of the most significant Baroque landmarks in Central Europe.

Today, the castle is a popular visitor attraction known for its historical grandeur, beautiful gardens, and ongoing musical and cultural events that celebrate its remarkable artistic heritage.
