Castle Kašperk is a well-preserved medieval royal castle near Kašperské Hory in the Šumava region of Czechia.
It was founded in 1356 by King Charles IV to protect the border with Bavaria, safeguard nearby gold mining areas, and oversee an important trade route known as the Golden Trail. Perched high in the mountains at about 886 meters above sea level, Kašperk is considered the highest royal castle in Bohemia.
Its distinctive twin towers and strategic hilltop location made it an important defensive and administrative center during the Middle Ages. Although the castle gradually lost its military importance and fell into decline, it remained a landmark of the region and has belonged to the town of Kašperské Hory since the early 17th century.
