Castle Krupka
Krupka, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Krupka Castle is a ruined medieval fortress above the town of Krupka in northwestern Czechia, built in the early 14th century to guard the local tin mines and an important trade route to Saxony.
It was later strengthened in the late Gothic period, but after the Thirty Years’ War it lost its defensive role and fell into ruin. Today it is partly restored, open as a historic site, and known for its scenic hilltop setting and links to Goethe, who visited it in the 19th century.
