Castle Landštejn, located in Staré Město pod Landštejnem, Czechia, is one of the oldest and best-preserved medieval castles in Central Europe, originally built in the early 13th century likely by the Moravian Přemyslids to guard the border and trade routes near the Bohemia-Austria frontier.

Its Romanesque core, consisting of two large towers connected by a palace, is unique in the region and remains largely intact. Over time, the castle was expanded with Gothic and Renaissance elements, including fortified walls, bastions, and residential wings added by the Krajíř family.

The castle served both military and noble residential purposes, illustrating architectural development across several centuries. After being damaged by fire in 1771, it gradually fell into ruin, but today it stands as a significant cultural and historical monument with ruins open to visitors, who can also enjoy panoramic views from the preserved defense towers. The castle's long history and architectural layers reflect its strategic importance and changing uses over time in this border region of Czechia.​
