Aranda de Moncayo, Spain, Spain
Castle of Aranda de Moncayo is a 12th-century fortress situated on a strategic hilltop in the town of Aranda de Moncayo, Zaragoza province, Aragon, Spain.
Originally constructed by a Muslim emirate during the Reconquista era, it gained heightened importance amid 14th-century Castile-Aragon border tensions, briefly captured by Castile in 1362 before being reinforced by Peter IV and entrusted to the Order of Sant Jordi d'Alfama in 1366, later passing to noble families like Toda de Luna.
Featuring an irregular polygonal layout roughly 30 by 12 meters built from irregular stones, only remnants survive today, including a lowered square tower with crenellated walls, designated as a Bien de Interés Cultural.
