Castle of Guijosa
Spain, Spain
Castle of Guijosa is a 14th-century fortress near Sigüenza in Guadalajara province, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, built on a hilltop to control local routes during Castile's civil wars.
Commissioned by a noble who switched allegiance to Enrique de Trastámara and was assassinated by rival King Peter I in retaliation, it features tall murallons with massive cylindrical corner towers and a large square homage tower typical of the era's military architecture.
Now in ruins after centuries of neglect and conflict, the site offers dramatic views over the surrounding valleys as a testament to medieval frontier rivalries.
