Castle of La Guardia de Jaén is a medieval fortress in La Guardia de Jaén, Jaén province, Spain, with origins tracing back to the 8th or 9th century as an early Arab stronghold overlooking the Guadalbullón river valley. Conquered by Ferdinand III in 1244, it became a key strategic defense point on the Castilian frontier against the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada for over two centuries, passing through noble hands like the Mexía family who transformed it into a palatial residence by the late 15th century. Occupied by Napoleonic troops in 1812, it suffered damage and decline but remains protected as Spanish historical heritage today.
