Castle of Malsobaco
Paracuellos de Jarama, Spain, Spain
Castle of Malsobaco in Paracuellos de Jarama, Madrid region, Spain, was an early Islamic fortress built between 852-886 under Muhammad I of Córdoba as part of the Middle March defensive network along the Jarama River valley.
Perched on a commanding hilltop with panoramic views, its 1,200-square-meter enclosure housed a garrison, outer walls reinforced by at least two towers, and a large interior cistern, transitioning to Christian control in 1079 before serving noble families and the Order of Santiago.
Now reduced to faint ruins of tapial walls and rubble after abandonment in the 16th century, it evokes the strategic frontier conflicts of medieval Iberia.
