Castle of Torre-Alháquime
Torre Alháquime, Spain, Spain
Castle of Torre-Alháquime is a Nasrid-era fortress crowning the highest point of Torre Alháquime village in Cádiz province, Andalusia, Spain, built from the 13th century by the Banu al-Hakim family as a strategic frontier hisn overlooking the Guadalporcún river valley near Olvera. Part of Granada's defensive line until Christian conquests in 1327 and 1480s amid Reconquista tensions, its walled enclosure featured an arched gateway and adapted to the hilltop terrain before partial destruction in the early 20th century for a now-closed cemetery. Today, declared a Bien de Interés Cultural in 1985, the ruins form a municipal park with panoramic views, blending Moorish military history and local settlement roots.
