Castle Puebla de Alcocer
Spain, Spain
Castle Puebla de Alcocer is a 15th-century fortress built on 12th-13th century Templar foundations in Puebla de Alcocer, Badajoz province, Extremadura, Spain, ordered by Gutierre de Sotomayor, Master of the Order of Alcántara under King Juan II of Castile.
Perched on a rocky hilltop overlooking La Siberia and La Serena regions, it features a majestic Tower of Homage with Zúñiga-Sotomayor coats of arms, Mudejar elements, and panoramic views once used for monitoring rivals. Partially ruined over centuries, 20th-century reconstruction preserved its silhouette as the town's iconic monument and a testament to medieval reconquest defenses.
