Castle Ruins Zubštejn are the remains of one of the largest medieval castles in Moravia, located on a rocky ridge above the village of Pivonice near Bystřice nad Pernštejnem.

The castle was built to guard an important trade route and was first mentioned in historical records in 1344, although it may have originated even earlier. Throughout the Middle Ages, Zubštejn played an important defensive role and was associated with the powerful Pernštejn family. The castle suffered damage during various conflicts, underwent several repairs, but gradually lost its importance and was abandoned by the 16th century.

Today, visitors can explore impressive ruins that include parts of the palace, sections of defensive walls, and remnants of a tower. A modern wooden bridge helps visitors reach the castle core and adds to the site's distinctive appearance. Surrounded by forests and scenic countryside, Zubštejn offers beautiful views across the Vysočina region and is a popular destination for hikers, photographers, and history enthusiasts. The ruins are freely accessible and are protected as a cultural monument.
