Castrodouro Castle
Spain, Spain
Castrodouro Castle, also known as Castelo do Castrodouro, is a small medieval fortress located in Alfoz, Lugo province, Galicia, northwestern Spain.
Dating probably to the 14th century and originally linked to a 9th-century monastery founded by a Castilian family under the Diocese of Mondoñedo, it once belonged to the family of Pedro Pardo de Cela, a prominent noble figure involved in the Irmandiño revolts.
The stone structure features a central tower and outer walls on a hilltop, offering scenic views, and served as a refuge for the marshal before his capture in 1483 amid conflicts with royal forces. Today, it stands as a historic site reflecting Galicia's feudal past, though primarily viewable from the exterior.
