Český Rudolec Castle
Český Rudolec, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Český Rudolec Castle, often called "Little Hluboká," originated as a Gothic water fortress on the route between Prague and Vienna in the 14th century.
It was rebuilt in the Renaissance style during the 16th century and later updated with Baroque elements. After a fire in 1860, it was reconstructed in a Neo-Gothic Tudor style inspired by the Italian Miramare Castle.
The castle was owned by the Reinhardt-Picchioni family until World War II, after which it deteriorated under nationalization and post-war neglect. The surrounding area once hosted a large prisoner-of-war camp and quarantine center during the war. In recent years, restoration efforts have revived the castle, which now features a guesthouse, restaurant, brewery, and beer spa, preserving the site's historical and cultural legacy.
