Chateau Kuřim
Kuřim, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Chateau Kuřim is a historic castle complex on the western edge of Kuřim, near Brno.
It combines a Renaissance “Old Castle,” built between 1592 and 1594 on the site of an earlier manor house, with a Neo-Renaissance “New Castle” added in the late 19th century. The complex is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
Originally serving as the administrative center for the City of Brno’s estates, the château later housed a girls’ orphanage, a maternal and infant care institution, and eventually a vocational school. Today, the château remains an important landmark in Kuřim. It contains exhibitions on local history, includes cultural spaces such as a gallery and café, and its courtyard is used for community events, concerts, and other cultural activities.
