Chateau Mcely in Czechia was originally built in 1653 by Count Jan Kristian of Valdštejn as a hunting lodge on Vinice Hill.

It was owned by several aristocratic families over centuries, including the Barons Wessenberg-Ampringen and later the Thurn-Taxis family, known for their lavish parties, hunts, and luxurious lifestyle. The original Baroque chateau was rebuilt in 1841 into a simpler classical style, and parts were demolished and renovated due to structural issues in the early 20th century.

After World War II and the communist takeover, the chateau fell into disrepair until an extensive renovation began in 2004 by Inéz and James Cusumano, reopening as a luxury hotel that blends historical character with eco-friendly values.

The chateau is set near the St. George Forest and features unique interiors where each room is individually styled, reflecting different continents and eras, making it a notable example of a restored neo-classical mansion in the Czech countryside.
