Chateau Strážnice is a historic château in the South Moravian town of Strážnice, built on the site of a medieval water castle that originally guarded the Moravian-Hungarian border.

Its roots date back to the 13th century, and over the centuries it evolved from a Gothic fortress into a Renaissance residence and later into its present Neo-Renaissance form with Classical influences. The château was owned by several notable noble families, including the Lords of Kravaře, the Žerotín family, and the Magnis family, who were responsible for many of its later architectural improvements and the creation of the surrounding English-style park.

Today, the château serves as the seat of the National Institute of Folk Culture and is closely associated with the region’s rich folklore traditions. Visitors can explore historic interiors, a library containing around 13,000 books, and a unique exhibition of traditional folk musical instruments that is considered one of the most important collections of its kind in Central Europe.
