Chaungtha is a relaxed beach village located in the Ayeyarwady Region of Myanmar, about a five-hour drive from Yangon. It is a popular retreat for local tourists during the dry season from October to April due to its affordable prices compared to nearby beaches like Ngwesaung and Ngapali. The beach features a long stretch of golden sand and palm-lined shore, with calm, shallow waters suitable for swimming and wading. Visitors can enjoy fresh, reasonably priced seafood at local eateries, and experience activities such as horse riding, boat trips to nearby islands for snorkeling, and exploring tidal mangrove forests. A notable landmark is a small pagoda built on a limestone boulder at the southern end of the beach. While the beach can get crowded, especially by local families, it offers a laid-back, authentic atmosphere with easy access to simple accommodations and natural beauty. The northern end of the beach is quieter with clearer water and interesting stone-sand beds exposed during low tide, offering tranquil spots for wading and relaxation.
