The Church of St. John at Kaneo is a small, striking Macedonian Orthodox church perched on a rocky cliff overlooking Lake Ohrid in the town of Ohrid, North Macedonia.

Dedicated to St. John the Theologian, it is thought to have been built in the 13th century, with later reconstructions and fresco work adding to its interior decoration over the centuries. The church stands on a natural platform above the popular Kaneo Beach, making it one of the most photographed landmarks in the area, with its red‑tiled roof and whitewashed walls framed by turquoise water and mountain views.

Inside, it preserves fragments of medieval frescoes, including a Christ Pantocrator in the dome and scenes of saints connected to the Ohrid Archbishopric, while also functioning today as both a place of worship and a symbol of the town’s deep religious and cultural heritage.
