Cuéllar Castle
Spain, Spain
Cuéllar Castle, also known as the Castle of the Dukes of Albuquerque, is a well-preserved Gothic-Renaissance fortress in the historic town of Cuéllar, Segovia province, Spain.
First documented in 1306 with possible 12th-century origins integrated into the town's extensive Romanesque walls, it features a rectangular layout with four corner towers—three circular—and underwent major 15th-16th century transformations by Beltrán de la Cueva after Enrique IV granted it to him in 1464, evolving from military stronghold to elegant ducal palace.
Today a national monument housing a secondary school, it hosts theatrical visits amid its Renaissance courtyard with double arcades, coffered ceilings, and Mudejar influences, anchoring Cuéllar's medieval heritage.
