Dědice (Vyškov)
Czech Republic, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Dědice is an administrative district of the town of Vyškov in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic, recognized as one of Moravia's oldest Slavic settlements based on archaeological evidence dating back millennia.
Located about 2 km north of central Vyškov, it merged with the town in 1941 along with nearby areas like Pazderna and Hamiltony, forming part of the Vyškov-Dědice urban agglomeration, its dominant landmark is the Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity.
Constructed from 1752–1780 on the site of a 14th-century Gothic predecessor destroyed by fire, while nearby ruins of Dědice Castle from the 13th century—once owned by the Sternberg family—have been protected as a cultural monument since 1970; military barracks have also operated here since 1935.
