The "Dimitrie Brândză" Botanical Garden is Bucharest's largest botanical garden and Romania's most important botanical garden, located in the Cotroceni neighborhood of Bucharest, Romania, at Șoseaua Cotroceni 32, Sector 6. Founded in 1860 by Carol Davila and initially established on the Cotroceni estate, it was moved to its current 18.2-hectare location in 1884 by Romanian botanist Dimitrie Brândză and Belgian landscape architect Louis Fuchs, and was named in honor of Dimitrie Brândză for his commitment and toil in establishing the garden at its current location. The garden houses over 10,000 plant species (with a flora range exceeding 300,000 different plant species) from diverse geographical areas, organized into thematic sectors including a Rainforest Pavilion, Tropical Greenhouse, Grandma's Garden, Herbarium, rose gardens, a Japanese Garden with tranquil pond and sculpted pines, a Romanian Flora section showcasing native species, a children's garden, and 4,000 square meters of exhibition greenhouses displaying exotic plants such as orchids, bromeliads, tree ferns, and Mediterranean, tropical, and desert climate species.
