Dollymount Strand is a 5‑kilometre stretch of fine sandy beach on the eastern shore of North Bull Island in Dublin Bay, just about 8 km from Dublin city centre and the closest large beach to the city.

The beach is backed by one of Ireland’s finest sand dune systems and sits alongside the UNESCO Bull Island Biosphere Reserve, a haven for around 40,000 migrating birds as well as shrews, badgers and hares, making it internationally important for nature conservation.

It’s a popular spot for walking, kite flying, rowing, canoeing and, especially, wind‑powered activities like kite‑surfing, which thrive here because the beach is almost always windy. During the bathing season a lifeguard is on duty, and there are restrooms and parking nearby, with beach wheelchairs available for people with disabilities, though dogs are not allowed on the beach itself.

The Wooden Bridge from Clontarf provides easy access to the strand, and an interpretative centre near the causeway offers educational talks and school activities about the island’s habitats and wildlife.
