Dub is a small market town located in the Prachatice District of the South Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic.
It lies in the Bohemian Forest Foothills about 10 kilometers north of Prachatice and has a population of around 400 people. The first historical mention of Dub dates back to 1274, and its name refers to the oak trees that likely characterized the area. The town is situated near the Dubský potok stream and includes several smaller administrative parts.
The highest natural feature is the hill called Spálená, which reaches 595 meters above sea level. Dub was elevated to market town status in 1869 by Emperor Franz Joseph I. It is known for its peaceful rural setting and typical South Bohemian countryside landscape, which includes fishponds and forested areas.
